Buy It Forward

Hi, my name is Brent.  I was living the normal life, married with a three-year-old daughter.  Pretty regular.  We were listening to a family radio show on the web that happen to feature a three-year-old girl who was abandoned on the streets in Peru out of complete desperation by her mother and father. In this story, the girl made it to an orphanage and was able to live with still very little.

This did not sit right with me. Seeing my three-year-old girl blessed and this one discarded.  My daughter eats three meals a day.  She plays with heaps toys, reads books, has regular medical check-ups, and sleeps in a warm and safe bed every night. Knowing that, “every day, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes–one child every five seconds.”¹ The four most common childhood illnesses are diarrhea, acute respiratory illness, malaria and measles. Each of these illnesses is both preventable and treatable. Yet, again, poverty interferes in parents’ ability to access immunizations and medicines. Chronic undernourishment on top of insufficient treatment greatly increases a child’s risk of death.² All of this is preventable. So, I started to seek God wanting to make a difference.

Worldwide, more than 1 billion people currently live below the international poverty line, earning less than $1 per day.³ The United Nations Development Program estimates that the basic health and nutrition needs of the world’s poorest people could be met for an additional $13 billion a year. Animal lovers in the United States and Europe spend more than that on pet food each year.² Although North America has only 6% of the world adult population, it accounts for 34% of the [world’s] household income.⁴ You see it costs a lot of money to live in privileged countries. Conceivable even what we waste can make a big difference. Like commission for example. So I started Buyitforward.com. If you have to pay to live, why not have the otherwise wasted commission go exactly where it is most needed? In this case, “helping children live a life worth smiling about.” Buying threw this site will help large world wide faith based organizations care for the needs of children and families all over the world, with no money out of your pocket. These online stores want your business. They offer a commission from affiliate programs that threw this site will go to the charities. When you click on my website first to do your online shopping you are making a difference for the “854 million people across the world that are hungry, up from 852 million a year ago.”²
